And suddenly, there’s winter. From a decent autumn now there’s snow and cold, and very delayed buses. Apart from that, I’m still working on my “in-between” campaign. Here’s some random thoughts that might or might not concern it…
I just started university two days ago. That is, the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. Aaand… I’m already exhausted, wow. And the dumbest part is that this is only the introduction week, filled with fun activities and parties… 26 hours a day. But it’s all good, I might actually survive another two weeks to see the real school days. Anyways, have some random monsters lol.
I’ve been thinking about money and items in Darkest Nights, my current campaign. I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t think money-counting really fits with the style of game that it is. Sometimes play doesn’t center around how much money you have, and thus I have been pondering how to make cash a little more abstract and quick.
A few days ago, I had a realization. I had been thinking about both the Empire of Gold setting, and my Dark Souls rpg (which I haven’t actually posted on). It may come as a great surprise that I’ve been working on an RPG based on or inspired by Dark Souls, as my blog name in no way implies that I like that series of awesome games. Anyways, as I pondered these systems the line between them started to get blurred in my head. And why not, they could do well together. The more traditional “normal world” pieces of EoG had been boring all along, and the Dark Souls setting had kind of lacked direction. When these got together, I could use all the fun bits from both and have a world where people had a real good reason to “adventure”. Continue reading
Well, here’s how I got to what I posted last week (part 3) and some stuff about how I failed to come up with a proper formula and stuff… But first science, that’s always fun. Though this one might not be that interesting, as it’s just some background and stuff. Whee.
You might have noticed that I dance between multiple RPG projects at all times. The only time I focus on a single one is just before we start a new campaign, when I make sure to make that particular system playable. I just thought I’d make a small post on the kind of systems I have played around with (or actually played sessions of).
I don’t think I’ll be able to write a proper post until after I get home this wednesday. I’m currently on Gran Canaria on a trip with my art school. Maybe I should be happy, but missing someone dear to you makes being away very, very hard. Currently I just want to go home (though some places here really are beautiful), but I’ll have to wait two more days. I’ll survive… I hope. Then I’ll just have to cope with my girlfriend being away as long as I was. Ugh.
But enough moaning about how horrible a vacation on a sunny island is, there’s something I am happy about. This blog has had a few visitors! That’s fun, and hopefully my posts are fun or interesting to the readers too! This is probably thanks to GURPSday (no link now because my phone is silly), and I have some more GURPS posts in mind.
At least one should be about the strentgh attribute, or mainly about melee damage (as a follow up to this). It might, however, spiral out of control into a whole series where I try to math out how much damage different weapon weights and lengths should do and stuff, or even rework the lifting strengths… Oops.
Another thing I might do is stat out a few more Darkest Nights monsters for GURPS, which forces me to determine lots of specific stuff about them. Is that good? Not sure.
On the non-gurps front I might drop some posts about the Tokyo Ghoul RPG, Empire of Gold, a viking RPG or other stuff. I might write a lot for a week. Writing is good, it distracts me from crying in a corner. At the moment though, I can’t get distracted enough to able to write a proper post. Sorry!
